Saadani National Park

Saadani National Park is one of Tanzania’s most unique and lesser-known safari destinations. What makes this park truly special is its location along the Indian Ocean coastline, making it the only national park in East Africa where the beach meets the bush.

Here, visitors can experience a rare combination of wildlife safaris and tropical beach scenery in one place. Palm-lined beaches stretch along the ocean while savannah landscapes extend inland, creating a beautiful and diverse environment where animals roam close to the shoreline.

Unlike most national parks, a day in Saadani might include relaxing on white sandy beaches before heading out on a game drive. It’s not unusual to see wildlife such as elephants or antelope moving through the coastal bush while waves crash along the nearby shore.

The park’s varied landscapes include mangrove forests, coral reefs, savannah plains, coastal palm groves, and the winding Wami River, making Saadani one of the most diverse ecosystems along Tanzania’s coast.
