Mount Meru

Mount Meru, standing at 4,562 meters in the Arusha Region of Tanzania, is the country’s second-highest mountain and offers a unique trekking experience. Located 70 kilometers west of Kilimanjaro, it provides breathtaking views of its more famous neighbor on clear days. As a dormant stratovolcano, Meru’s striking crater, diverse vegetation zones, and abundant wildlife, including elephants and giraffes, make it a must-visit for nature lovers. Treks typically take 3-4 days, passing through lush forests and alpine meadows, offering stunning vistas and a rewarding challenge for hikers. It’s often considered a great acclimatization hike for Kilimanjaro.
