Lake Eyasi

Lake Eyasi is a seasonal salt lake located on the floor of the Great Rift Valley in northern Tanzania, just south of the Ngorongoro Highlands. This remote and peaceful destination offers visitors a completely different experience from the traditional wildlife safaris found in nearby national parks.

The lake sits at a high elevation and is surrounded by dramatic landscapes, including rocky escarpments, open plains, and tall palm trees along its shoreline. During the rainy seasons the lake expands across the valley floor, while in the dry months it becomes more shallow, creating an ever-changing environment.

Lake Eyasi is best known not for big-game safaris, but for its unique cultural experiences and birdlife, as well as the opportunity to visit some of Tanzania’s most traditional communities.
